As soon as the news of the accident was received, a wave of mourning ran in Pathankot and village Shamsherpur. Army officials informed the family that the accident occurred at around 11:30 am when the army convoy was going from Dabuk to Chongatash. As soon as the vehicle approached KM 74, there was a sudden heavy landslide.
Meanwhile, a rock fell on top of the military vehicle. The vehicle was completely damaged. Nayak Daljit Singh was driving at the time of the incident. All were going towards the firing range.

Three soldiers martyred in accident
Three other soldiers – Major Mayank Shubham (14 Sindh Horse), Major Amit Dixit and Captain Gaurav (60 Armed) were injured in the accident. He has been admitted to 153 General Hospital in Leh, where he is undergoing treatment and his condition is said to be stable.
Mourning in the village, people’s eyes moist
As soon as the news of Daljit Singh’s martyrdom reached his village Shamsherpur, a mountain of grief broke on the family and villagers. The tears in the eyes of the family are not taking the name of stopping. There is a inconsolable atmosphere all around the village.
The villagers said that Daljit Singh was full of patriotism since childhood and it was his dream to serve the country by joining the army. He was serving in the army for the last several years and was posted in Ladakh.
At the same time, Bhanu of Pathankot got promotion in June itself and he became a lieutenant colonel.
Today will be farewell with military honors
Today the body of both the martyrs will be brought to Punjab. Shaheed Bhanu Pratap Singh in Pathankot and Daljit Singh in Gurdaspur will be given a final farewell. The body of both of them from Ladakh will reach Pathankot airbase today.
The body of martyr Havildar Daljit Singh will be brought to his house as ancestral village and Shaheed Bhanu Pratap Singh. Where he will be cremated with full military honors.
