Rajya Sabha MP Kapil Sibal on Saturday expressed concern over the sudden disappearance of former Vice President and former Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar. He demanded Union Home Minister Amit Shah to make a statement in the matter.
Sibal said- ‘I am worried about him. We have no knowledge of them since the resignation. Earlier I had heard about ‘missing Ladies’, but for the first time I am listening to the Vice President.
He said that the Ministry of Home Affairs will definitely know about this, so Amit Shah should give a statement on this. He questioned whether the hai -bays corpus petition will have to be filed?
Sibal said- Opposition will have to protect Dhankhar
He jokingly said that now it seems that the opposition will have to protect Dhankhar. Sibal told that he had earlier called, then the PA of Dhankhar said that he was resting. Since then no one picked up the phone. Many leaders also made the same complaint.
On August 7, the Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh dismissed the adjournment information given to discuss the unexpected resignation of Dhankhar. IUML MP Abdul Wahab had demanded a discussion on the issue under Rule 267.
Dhankhar resigned on 21 July
Dhankhar resigned on July 21, citing health reasons, which was informed in the Rajya Sabha on 22 July. However, many opposition leaders questioned his resignation and expressed apprehension that this could be a result of any political pressure.
Congress President and Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge also said that the government should clearly explain why he resigned.
He had said- ‘I think’ something black is black in the lentils’. His health is fine, he always defended RSS and BJP. The country should know who and what is behind his resignation.
