The way for India-Pakistan match in the Asia Cup has been cleared. The government said on Thursday- ‘There is no ban on playing with Pakistan in the multinational tournament.’ The ministry also said that India’s stand will remain intact in the Beileral Series.
An official of the Sports Ministry Dainik Bhaskar Shared a letter from India, it describes India’s policy for international events. According to this, Indian teams will not participate in competitions in Pakistan nor will Pakistan’s teams be allowed to play in India.
However, India will take a decision keeping in mind the rules of international sports institutions and the interests of its players in international and multinational events (whether in India or abroad). Indian teams and Indian players will participate in those international events which will also include Pakistan teams and players. This is exactly the same as Pakistan teams and players will also be able to participate in multinational events in India.
On August 19, 2 days ago, BCCI announced the Indian team to participate in the Asia Cup. After the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, there is opposition to India’s playing with Pakistan in the Cricket Asia Cup. There was also a question in the House in this regard. The Indian team of former cricketers refused to play Pakistan in the World Championship of Legends (WCL).
India host of Asia Cup, but event is being held in UAE
This year India is the host of Cricket Asia Cup. It is being held in UAE after Pakistan’s refusal to play in India. The tournament will begin on 9 September. Team India will face UAE on 10 September.
