He said that the rebirth of the Dalai Lama will be recognized only by the Tibetan Buddhist tradition. He described China’s concept of ‘gold urn lottery’ and ‘government approval’ as baseless. Kashag has declared the upcoming 90th birthday of the Dalai Lama as ‘Karuna Year’. Tibetans and supporters have been urged to disseminate the message of compassion, peace, human value and environmental protection in the world.

After coming to India in 1959, the exiled government was established in Mussoorie. On 2 September 1960, the exiled Tibetan public representatives were sworn in for the first time. Since then this day is celebrated as Tibetan Democracy Day. Kashag reiterated in his message that Tibet’s future depends on the legacy of the Dalai Lama and he would not accept any interference of China.
