In the meantime, there has been a tremendous struggle in Ludhiana to stop the floods for the last 60 hours. On one side is the Sutlej Dariya, whose water is constantly trying to move towards the population. On the other hand, there are district administration, army, NDRF and common people, who are busy day and night to stop it.

So far, the Sutlej Dariya has been prevented from entering the population due to the ground support of the administration and the perfect planning of the army. When the water increased in the Sutlej Dariya and the soil between the dam and the river started slipping, the administration called the Army and NDRF without losing time.

On Friday, Sutlej gradually kept cutting the part of the main dam. Till then the army understood that the water is not going to stop. If the dam is broken, the water will enter the fields and then 14 villages before the strong currents. In view of this, a temporary ring (wire) dam was built 700 meters from the main dam. People from nearby villages are also engaged in helping the army and administration day and night.

The main dam broke late on Friday night. Due to this, some fields were drowned but the water was stopped from entering the population from the ring dam. However, the Sutlej River now started erosion in the ring dam as well. Seeing this, a third dam is being built here, trying to stop the strong currents of water. The people of the area and DC Himanshu Jain of Ludhiana along with the area are also seen helping to reach the soil -filled sacks.

If there is flood from Sutlej, then not only 14 villages but also its water can kill from road to Dhanansu and Samrala Chowk. This struggle to stop floods from 4 am on 4 September is still going on…. However, the danger is still not averted.

Photos of flood situation in Ludhiana ..

1. The water of Sutlej Dariya started growing in the Sasrali region from August 4. Since then, there has been continuous harvesting due to strong current. A large part of the farmers’ fields also got into the water. Crops were also washed away in water.

2. The process of soil cutting started in Sasrali region. The tube wells built in the fields along the river were also absorbed into the water. Electric poles here also flowed into the water. The farmers also tried to remove the motors in tube wells, but did not succeed.

3. Seeing the water form of Sutlej Darya, the administration appealed to the people settled along the embankment to go to safe places. Due to this, some people went to safe places with their animals and other goods.

4. A large part of the farmers’ fields got into the Satluj Dariya. This has caused heavy losses to the farmers. Farmers said that people made a lot of efforts to save crops, strengthened the embankment, but the flow of water is so fast that success was not found.

5. On Friday night, the administration received information that the pace of harvesting is quite fast. As soon as the information was received, police, administration, NDRF and army teams reached the spot and started building a new dam at night. This work went on all night.

6. On Saturday, more than 1 thousand people gathered on the spot to control the situation. Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain was also seen picking up sacks filled with soil. They were seen in a line with people to bring the sacks of the soil to the people making embankments.

7. Along with the administration, people are also engaged in strengthening the dam near Sasrali. These include people associated with many social institutions. People are afraid that if the situation is not controlled, 14 villages will have to suffer it.

8. Three times an attempt was made to strengthen the embankment, but did not get success twice. Because whatever embankment was made, it would flow into the water. For the third time on Saturday, people started creating a new embankment with the teams of administration and NDRF.

9. Ludhiana received heavy rains on Saturday morning. Due to this, the villagers, who were busy strengthening the embankment of Sutlej, faced a lot of trouble. One, the water of Sutlej was flowing with a sharp flow and the rain from above was filled with water in the fields, causing mud.

10. People are busy strengthening the embankment even in the dark of night. Along with the local people, police and administrative officials are also present on the spot and are fully cooperating. NDRF teams are also helping.
