A 47-year-old man committed suicide on Wednesday by jumping from Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli Sea link. His body was later found near Santa Cruz. The deceased has been identified as Amit Chopra, a resident of Andheri (West). He was a merchant of artificial jewels.

Police said that the deceased had hired a cab to go to a link from his house. On reaching there, he shouted and said that it was bitten by the snake, causing the cab driver to stop the car. Chopra then suddenly got out of the cab and jumped into the sea.

After this, the cab driver immediately informed the police. The official said that Chopra had left his sling bag and mobile phone in the cab. Chopra is survived by his wife and two daughters. The Bandra Police has registered a contingent death report and further investigation is on.
