The Delhi High Court on Friday said that if the wife constantly pressures the husband to break the relationship with the family, then it will be considered mental cruelty and can become the basis of divorce. The court commented,
Mental cruelty also comes under mental cruelty to publicly humiliate the husband publicly, to say bad complaints in front of colleagues and officials at the workplace.
The bench of Justice Anil Kshetrapal and Justice Harish Vaidyanathan Shankar rejected the wife’s appeal, retaining the order of the Family Court. The court admitted that the husband proved through testimony and evidence that the wife’s behavior was constantly filled with pressure, threats and humiliation.
Wife was pressurizing her husband to stay away from family
The matter was related to a divorce dispute. The husband told the court that the wife used to constantly pressurize him to stay away from the family and distribute the property. She insisted on staying separate from her widowed mother and divorced sister.
The husband said- The wife made complaints with the police several times and on one occasion the husband was rebuked and maligned in front of colleagues and officials at her workplace.
