During the recent floods in Punjab province, the Kartarpur Sahib campus was flooded for about 11 feet. Because of this Gurudwara Sahib had to be closed. After the water landed, repair and cleaning work were completed and now devotees from Pakistan and abroad have been allowed to visit here. However, Indian devotees were already unable to visit here, as the corridor was closed during Operation Sindoor.
Due to floods, Shri Kartarpur Sahib was flooded up to 11 feet.
Organizing on the occasion of Jyotijot Day
Granthi Gobind Singh of Shri Kartarpur Sahib informed that the 486th Jyotijot Day of Guru Nanak Dev Ji is being celebrated with reverence and pomp here. Akhand Path Sahib was started from 20 September and it will be offered on 22 September.
He said that the floods had caused a lot of damage to the premises, but now the situation has become normal and devotees are reaching in large numbers. He has also appealed to the people of the Muslim community of Pakistan to come and visit.
Demand for Punjab and Sikh organizations intensifies
The demand from the central government to open the corridor immediately is continuously arising. Especially after the recent India-Pakistan Asia Cup cricket match, the issue has gained more emphasis. Organizations and leaders say that when cricket can be played between the two countries, why is there a ban on the religious visits of the devotees.
Akali Party spokesperson of Dal Waris Punjab De (Amritpal Singh Group) Iman Singh Khara said“If there can be cricket matches between India and Pakistan, then it is not right to keep the Kartarpur corridor closed and not let Sikh devotees go to their religious place.” He further said that opening the attic border on the border and starting the cross border trade will not only provide relief to the business class but will also promote regional development.

AAP MLA Dera Baba Nanak Gurdeep Singh Randhawa The Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan had submitted a memorandum during his visit demanding repair and opening the Kartarpur corridor. He had said that the corridor has suffered a lot of damage due to floods and its correction is necessary.
Congress leader and Punjab Former Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu Wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealing to open the Kartarpur corridor and allow the Sikh batch to be sent to Nankana Sahib on Prakash Gurprab of Guru Nanak Dev Ji. He had said that every year a special batch from India goes there in November, but this time the Ministry of Home Affairs did not allow it, which has hurt the sentiments of the Sikh community.
Sidhu questioned how the India-Pakistan cricket match was allowed on 14 September when the batch is being stopped due to security reasons. He accused the central government of adopting a dual policy and said that opening Kartarpur Corridor would be respected by the religious faith and emotions of Sikh devotees.
SGPC has expressed fury
SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami opposed the central government’s decision. He said, “This is an insult to the religious sentiments of Sikhs. When relations between India and Pakistan can be formed for cricket matches, why are the devotees not allowed to visit their holy sites?”
At the same time, the Ministry of Home Affairs has said in its letter to SGPC that there is a tense situation on the India-Pakistan border. In such a situation, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev Ji, security threat may increase during the visit of devotees. The ministry clarified that it would not be appropriate to send pilgrims to neighboring countries at this time.
