The government may soon give 1100 rupees to the women of Punjab every month. The government has started preparations for this and it can be started after the budget presented in March next year.
,
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann himself said this in a TV interview. He said that many guarantees have already been completed and now work has started on this guarantee for women.
If the AAP government fulfills this guarantee, then about 75 lakh women older than 18 years old in Punjab can get this amount every month.
The Aam Aadmi Party had named its manifesto in the 2022 assembly elections to the guarantees, which included the promise of providing financial assistance to women. Opposition parties have been questioning the government often, calling it incomplete.

Unilateral victory on the strength of promises During the assembly elections in 2022, AAP national convenor Arvind Kejriwal promised for women in Punjab that if their government is formed in Punjab, every woman above 18 years of age will be given financial assistance of Rs 1000 every month.
Along with this promise, Kejriwal also promised free electricity, water. The effect of these promises was that AAP won 92 seats in 117 assembly seats in Punjab and formed the government under the leadership of Bhagwant Mann. As soon as the government was formed, the government soon fulfilled free electricity, water promises of water, but women were not given financial assistance.
The amount was increased in Lok Sabha elections When the Lok Sabha elections were held in the country about 2 years after the promise, the opposition parties surrounded the government. In order to avoid the possible damage to the government, Kejriwal raised the amount received by women in a public meeting in Hoshiarpur to one thousand to 1100 rupees per month. Then it was named “Women Empowerment Scheme”.
The AAP leaders argued that the public has given him a full 5 years time. All the promises will be fulfilled in these 5 years. He also said that he had not fixed any time to fulfill the promises. Because of this, he will also fulfill this guarantee within 5 years.
The reason for not fulfilling the promise and now fulfills it ..
- Fund shortage: Experts say that raising finance for this scheme has always been a challenge for the government. Because of this, this scheme has been postponed. The government may keep saying that there is no problem of money, but the budget pressure is increasing in order to fulfill the rest of the promises.
- Look at the next election: Next year i.e. 2026 will be the last budget of the current government. In such a situation, the government wants to include the Rs 1100 scheme in the election budget, so that voters can be done in their favor through this scheme. For this, the government will gather funds to implement the scheme in the election year. Some old schemes will cut funds. Only then it is possible.

10 thousand crores needed to fulfill the promise The current population of Punjab is around 3 crore. The number of women in this is about 1.45 crore. If 70-75 lakh women of these are considered eligible for the scheme, then the government will need about 10 thousand crores every year. Arrangement of such a big budget is a big challenge for the government.
On the other hand, the government is already implementing schemes like its big election promises- 300 units of free electricity, better health facilities and upgrading government schools on the lines of private schools. Completing them is also putting pressure on the government budget.
