Anil Joshi, vice president and former minister of Shiromani Akali Dal in Punjab, will join Congress. He will be joined by Bhupesh Baghel party in -charge of Punjab Congress in Chandigarh at 10 am tomorrow (October 1).

Anil Joshi was in BJP before joining the Akali Dal. In 2021, he was expelled from BJP for making rhetoric in support of the peasant movement.
Anil Joshi is the big Hindu face of the Akali Dal in Punjab and in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections he was the Akali Dal candidate from Amritsar seat. Then he received about 2 million votes.

Preparations were to contest by -elections for many days Anil Joshi is originally from Sangha village in Tarn Taran district in Punjab. His business is also in Tarn Taran. The Congress party can field him in the by -elections to be held in Tarn Taran assembly seat.
