All the children are residents of Thakurpatti Ward 4 of Janakinagar police station area of Banmankhi block. The deceased have been identified as Sundar Kumar (15), Sintu Kumar (14), Jigar Kumar (14) and Rohit Kumar (15). The injured is named Kuldeep Kumar (12). All are from Mahadalit family.
Police have reached GMCH Purnia for postmortem with the bodies of the four. The accident took place near Jawanpur on Katihar-Jogbani railway block of Kasba police station area.

Eyewitness said- Speed was so much that there was no chance to recover
People present on the spot at the time of the accident said, all the people were crossing the railway track. Vande Bharat Express going from Jogbani to Danapur passed through there. The train left all of them blowing them. The speed of the train was so fast that no one got a chance to recover.
All children belong to the same family
Brahmadev Rishi, father of the deceased Shyamsunder, told that all had gone to Kasba to see the fair. The dead include his son, nephew and Bhandana. They are residents of Thakurpatti. Pappu Yadav’s representative demands compensation of 20 lakhs
Rajesh Yadav, representative of MP Pappu Yadav, reached GMCH as soon as the incident was reported. The MP representative demanded 20 lakh cash and government jobs in the railway for the family of the deceased who lost their lives in the accident and said that this incident would show that the government which calls itself the friend of Mahadalits, is truly how much sympathy about it.
