SDRF walked 8 kilometers to reach the body.
A tourist died in Chamoli today i.e. Saturday. One of the 12 -member team of West Bengal, who went for trekking on the Satopanth Trek route, died due to deteriorating health. The deceased has been identified as Somanta Da, resident Baradron, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal.
SDRF was informed that five trekkers were stranded in Laxmivan area, about four kilometers ahead of Vasundhara. As soon as the information was received, the SDRF team led by Sub -Inspector Deepak Samant from Badrinath left immediately with necessary equipment and satellite phones.
8 kilometers walk with the dead body
Between the difficult weather and inaccessible routes, the SDRF recovered the body of Sumanta Da from Satopanth region while running relief and rescue work. At the same time, five of his companions were found in safe condition. The team traveled the dead body of about eight kilometers to Mana.
The colleagues said that Somanta Da died due to cardiac attack. Station head Navneet Bhandari informed that the body has been sent for postmortem.
