A medical student was gang-raped on Friday in Durgapur of Paschim Bardhaman district of West Bengal. The victim had gone for dinner with a male friend. While returning, some youths blocked his way. Then, after driving away his companion from there, he brutalized the victim.

Police said on Saturday that the victim is a resident of Jaleshwar in Odisha and is a second year student of a private medical college in Durgapur. This incident happened outside the medical college campus. The medical student is undergoing treatment at a nearby hospital.
