CJI Gavai was speaking at the national conference ‘Safeguarding the Girl Child’ organized by the Juvenile Justice Committee of the Supreme Court and UNICEF India on Saturday.
Chief Justice (CJI) BR Gavai on Saturday said that girls are facing new types of problems and dangers in the digital age. Technology has become a means of exploitation, not empowerment.
He said that online harassment, cyber bullying, digital stalking, misuse of personal data and deepfake photos have become a big concern for girls today. CJI Gavai said –

To protect against these dangers, there is a need to give special training to the police and officers, so that they can handle such cases intelligently and sensitively.
CJI Gavai was speaking at the national conference ‘Safeguarding the Girl Child’ organized by the Juvenile Justice Committee of the Supreme Court and UNICEF India.
Justice BV Nagarathna, Justice JB Pardiwala, Union Women and Child Development Minister Annapurna Devi and UNICEF India representative Cynthia McCaffrey were also present at the event.
