Gautam Adani’s company Adani Enterprises Limited (AEL) has received the contract to construct a 13 -km long ropeway project connecting Sonprayag to Kedarnath. The company gave this information on Monday.

Sonprayag is the last point for pilgrims going to Kedarnath temple to reach by road. The Union Cabinet approved this ropeway project in March this year, which is an estimated cost of around Rs 4,081 crore. It will take about 6 years to complete.

The company said in the statement-

Once operated in operation, this 12.9 km ropeway project will reduce the difficult 9 -hour walk in just 36 minutes, which will make the pilgrimage very easy and safe. The ropeway will be able to carry 1,800 passengers per hour per direction.

A total of 12.9 km distance will connect Sonprayag to Kedarnath, which is traditionally completed by a 16 -km difficult walking footing with other means such as horses, palanquins and helicopters.

This ropeway is part of the National Ropeway Development Program – Ratumala Project. This project, formed on the basis of public-private partnership (PPP), will take 6 years to complete. The Kedarnath temple consists of about 2 million pilgrims, which highlights the importance of this project.

Approval was received in March this year

The Center approved the rope-way project for Kedarnath Dham and Hemkund Sahib in March this year.

The National Highway Logistic Management from Sonprayag to Kedarnath in Uttarakhand will create it under the National Ropeway Development Program.

Kedarnath Temple is at an altitude of 3,584 meters above sea level. Here is the Mandakini River. Kedarnath Dham is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva.
