The youth of Amritsar was taken hostage in Iran and a ransom of 50 lakhs is being demanded in lieu of leaving him. Balkar Singh, a resident of village Grangarh of Ajnala tehsil, is pleading to bring his son Gurpreet Singh back to the country.

Father Balkar Singh said that he has been requested for help for the release of Gurpreet Singh (Passport Number AE110452). Balkar Singh says that his son Gurpreet Singh is a victim of an international gang conspiracy in Iran. Balkar Singh said that Gurpreet Singh trusted a man in his desire to go abroad, who promised to get the UK visa by calling himself Mohammed, who lives in Britain.

Hostage took hostage after reaching Iran He took a passport from Gurpreet and made a ticket to Iran and said that from there he would manage his UK visa. After trusting, Gurpreet moved to Iran on 14 September with a flight from Jaipur Airport. The same night the family received a message on a WhatsApp call (+306949865949), in which Gurpreet was held hostage and the gang people demanded Rs 50 lakh in exchange for leaving him.

Balkar Singh said that he saw his son crying and pleading for help in the video. He told that his son is constantly being killed and a video call of his crying is made, which he is feeling very sad and crying.

He has now come to know that this gang calls many youths of Punjab in a similar manner and takes hostage for ransom. Balkar Singh also said that the sons of many families of Hoshiarpur and Sangrur were also held hostage earlier, but their release was made possible by the efforts of the Ministry of External Affairs.
