Iqbal had got the extension twice during Shivraj’s tenure, Veera Rana also got a chance
During the tenure of former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Iqbal Singh Bains was given an extension twice by the Central Government. Bains remained in service till November 2023 after retiring in 2022 due to two-time extension of six months. After this, due to the assembly election code of conduct, the Election Commission had agreed to make senior IAS Veera Rana as Chief Secretary from December 1. The decision to maintain Rana as Chief Secretary was upheld by Dr. Mohan Yadav, who became the Chief Minister and after that Rana also got a six -month extension on his initiative and she retired on 30 September 2024.
