Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Thursday that the proposal to change the name of Shivajinagar Metro Station in Bangalore to St. Mary is a direct insult to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

Following Fadnavis’s statement, the controversy of changing the name of Shivajinagar Metro Station has increased. He said that he prays that Lord Siddaramaiah should understand the right understanding so that he does not carry forward the wrong decision taken on this religious ground.

He said- It is unacceptable to remove the name of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj on a religious grounds. This is the old attitude of the Congress, Shivaji has been insulted since the time of Nehru.

Actually, Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah had said that his government can consider this proposal. This demand was made by Congress MLA Rizwan Arshad during the annual festival in St. Mary Basilica. Deputy CM DK Shivkumar also said that it is normal to consider such community demands.

BJP said- appeasement Congress’s first choice

Tribute has become the first choice of Congress. He said- his party was ruined due to appeasement. Nevertheless, they are continuing politics of appeasement. We will not let this happen.
  • BJP member Chitra Wagh in Maharashtra Legislative Council said that the hatred of the Congress towards Shivaji Maharaj has been revealed. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has also sent a proposal to the Central Government to change the name. Will the Maharashtra Congress clarify its position on this or will be silent?

Shiv Sena (UBT) bid- BJP does not provoke fire

  • In Maharashtra, the Congress ally Shiv Sena (Uddhav faction) has said that it will write a letter to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, urging to name the metro station after Chhatrapati Shivaji.
  • Party spokesperson Anand Dubey said, ‘Public sentiments should be respected. Politics should be avoided. The BJP has no moral right to talk about Shivaji Maharaj. PM Modi laid the foundation of the statue of Shivaji in the Arabian Sea. There has been no progress since then. BJP should not provoke fire. We will talk to the Congress and find a solution.

Fadnavis said- misunderstandings are being spread on Maratha reservation

Fadnavis also clarified about Maratha reservation that misunderstandings being spread about the recently released government proposal (GR) are not good.

He said that Hyderabad Gazette does not mean that all the Marathas will get a certificate of Kunabi caste. Only those people who will get the certificate or evidence will be issued only after thorough investigation.
