Former Union minister and four-time BJP MP Rajen Gohain quit the party along with 17 other members on Thursday. Gohain wrote in a three-line letter sent to Assam BJP President Dilip Saikia, ‘I am resigning from the primary membership of BJP from today. Please accept it with immediate effect.

After resignation, Gohain said, ‘I am not leaving the party with any ambition.’ Gohain said, ‘Assamese society has been broken. Ahom community was the decisive force of Assam, today their political hold has been destroyed. BJP has become the biggest enemy of Assamese.

Coldrif cough syrup banned in Bengal too, asked not to keep stock

The Bengal Chemists and Druggists Association (BCDA) on Thursday directed all drug dealers in the state to stop the sale and purchase of Coldrif cough syrup with immediate effect. This instruction has been issued after the death of several children due to drinking cough syrup in Madhya Pradesh. In the advisory, BCDA has warned not to keep stock of cough syrup.
