A huge fight of train tickets has started for passengers going home on festivals from Chandigarh. On August 21, when the booking of October 20 (Deepawali) opened, almost all the trains going to Uttar Pradesh and Bihar became full in just three days.

The situation is that waiting tickets are no longer available in many trains. In such a situation, passengers now have only Tatkal tickets or special trains run by the railway.
Railways say that on the occasion of Deepawali (October 20) and Chhath Puja (26 October), more than 12 thousand special trains will be run across the country.
It is expected that 2-3 special trains from Chandigarh will also be available for Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. However, it has not yet been officially announced by Ambala Mandal.

Tatkal ticket is the last support In the festival season, passengers have to face the most troubles to get Tatkal tickets. Often people have to spend the whole night in queues at the reservation center, yet the tickets do not appear. Many times people camp at the railway station for two-three days to get Tatkal tickets.
The situation is now that it is almost impossible to get seats in superfast and express trains and passengers are only waiting for immediate or special trains.
