Now the next hearing of the case will be held on September 12, in which the proposal of the Bar Association and the UT administration report will be considered.
These two options were kept
- Construction in the current campus – 3 -storey basement parking and 6 storey blocks should be built in front of the bar hall. 16 new court rooms will be ready in this. The estimated cost is around 200 crores and for this UNESCO approval will be necessary.
- Shifting in Sarangpur-A modern building will be built in 42 lakh square feet, which will have 140 court rooms and 8 entry-exit points. The Chandigarh administration has also promised to build 6 lane flyover and wide roads here.
Displeasure over keeping the bar out of the meeting
During the hearing, lawyer R.S. Khosla objected that the bar was excluded from the building committee meetings. He said that first time opinion was taken from the president and secretary, but now he is being ignored. On this, the Chief Justice assured that the future would be improved.
Discussion on the land of Rock Garden and Governor Palace
At the hearing, the Chief Justice sought information about the unusable land related to the rock garden. At the same time, advocate Ashish Chopra suggested that the land reserved for the Governor Palace can be used as it is out of the capital complex area and will not have to take UNESCO approval for it.
Currently multi-level parking and court rooms will be ready
The UT administration said that the plan for raw parking in Sector-17 has been approved and work will be completed in 60 days. The court and the bar agreed that daughter-in-law parking and new court room in the current campus could be ready in 2 to 3 years, while it would take more than 10 years to build a new campus in Sarangpur.
