Know on which level negligence
First negligence: 5 days, 6 deaths … then wake up administration
The case started from the month of September, but the administration did not pay attention to it. On September 2, 4 -year -old Shivam Rathore died. It was ignored as a normal event. When 6 children died due to kidney failure within 15 days, the administration came to know for the first time that something was going wrong in Parasia block of Chhindwara.
In a hurry, a separate ward was made at Parasia Civil Hospital on 20 September, but by then it was too late. The question is that why did the health department and local administration take 18 days to be alert on the deaths of children due to the same pattern in the same area?
The children were admitted to the hospital after complaints of colds and fever.
Second negligence: ‘proof’ report in hand, yet poison was sold for 3 days When 4 children of Parasia were admitted to a hospital in Nagpur due to kidney failure, they had a biopsy of kidney. The biopsy report clearly stated that kidney damage has occurred due to chemical present in phlegm syrup. It was also found that all the children were given the same cuff syrup ‘Coldrif’.
This report also reached the doctors of Chhindwara Hospital. This was such a decisive evidence, on the basis of which the sale of that drug should have been banned with immediate effect. But the opposite happened. Even after receiving the report, the local health department wasted 3 days precious time to ban the drug.
Syrup was banned on 29 September. But this ban was also half-incomplete. The syrup was banned in Chhindwara, but the supply of its super stockist sitting in Jabalpur continued unabated in other parts of the state. That is, there was poison ban in one district, then it was being divided into other districts.
This drug was supplied to the rest of the districts of the state from Kataria Forma in Jabalpur.
Third negligence: Except suspected samples, the rest of the investigation and then Dussehra leave When all -round pressure increased, on September 30, samples of suspected cuff syrup ‘Coldrif’ and ‘Nextra DS’ were sent from Chhindwara to Bhopal for investigation. The doctors suspected these two medicines. But the employees of Bhopal’s drug laboratory started investigating the samples of the rest of the drugs (Alto-E, Voxam DS, and D-frost) except for the deadly ‘Coldrif’ and ‘Nextra DS’ samples.
The report of these three came only on 1 October and no disturbances were found in them. Even after this, the investigation of the main suspected drugs was not carried forward. Then Dussehra’s holiday came and the lab was locked. On one side the children were dying, and on the other side the employees of the government lab were celebrating the festival. When the report of the Tamil Nadu government came, the report was released late on October 4.

Fourth negligence: Government doctors only distributed from private clinic ‘death
Another shocking aspect came to light in this whole case. Despite the biopsy report from Parasia Civil Hospital, Dr. Praveen Soni, a biopsy report from Nagpur, the children continued to write the same poisonous ‘Coldf’ Kapha Syrup to the children on their private clinic. Moreover, the sale of this medicine from his wife Jyoti Soni’s medical store also continued indiscriminately.
When Bhaskar asked Dr. Soni about this, he easily put his responsibility on the drug inspector. He said, ‘I have been writing this medicine for many years. I prescribe the medicine whose result is good. We cannot take samples of medicine. This duty belongs to the drug inspector. Wrote a letter to the Government of Tamil Nadu on 1 October and officer on leave
The drug controller of Madhya Pradesh wrote a letter to the Tamil Nadu government on 1 October requesting to investigate the company making the drug and accepted its responsibility. After this, the deputy drug controller and the state licensing authority, Shobhit Koshta, took the official holiday and left for the pilgrimage of Rameswaram. On the holiday on Gandhi Jayanti on 2 October, the Tamil Nadu government team raided the pharmaceutical company.
