The Election Commission (ECI) on Friday delivered 474 registered non-recognized political parties. These parties did not contest any election for the last six years.
After this action, 808 parties have been dropped from the list in the last two months. The commission said that earlier on August 9, registrations of 334 parties were canceled.
Apart from this, the Commission has also identified 359 parties of 23 states and union territories. These parties did not submit their audited accounts and election expenses reports from three years (2021–22, 2022-23 and 2023-24).
These parties had entered the election, but did not file the necessary report on time, due to which action has been initiated against them.
EC said- parties will get a chance to present side
The Election Commission has said that the Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs) of states and union territories have been instructed to issue show-cose notices to these parties. The parties will be given a chance to present their case and the final decision will be taken after the hearing.
10 anonymous parties of Gujarat fielded only 43 candidates in three elections, ₹ 4300 crore donations
According to a report on August 26, political parties registered ₹ 4300 crore in five years of 2019-20 to 2023-24 from 10 anonymous registered in Gujarat. Interestingly, these parties fielded only 43 candidates in the three elections held in Gujarat (two Lok Sabha of 2019, 2024 and assembly of 2022) during this period and got a total of 54,069 votes.

Non-recognized political parties’ income increased by 223%
The income of registered non-recognized political parties (RUPP), who got nominal votes in the country, increased by 223% in 2022-23. This information has been revealed in the report of the Association for Democratic Reforms (ADR).
According to the report, there are 2764 non-recognized parties in the country. Of these, more than 73% (2025) have not made their financial records public. The remaining 739 registered non-recognized parties have shared their records. These parties have been analyzed in the report.
