Former cabinet minister Sardar Harmail Singh Taura died this evening in a private hospital in Mohali. He was 77 years old and was ill for the last few days. He was the son -in -law of late Jathedar Gurcharan Singh Taura.

Sardar Taura made a significant contribution to his political life. He was elected MLA from Dakala (now Sanour) assembly constituency in the year 1997 and also became the cabinet minister of the Public Works Department.
His last rites will be performed on September 23, Tuesday at 11 am in his native village Tauhra.
He is left behind by wife Bibi Kuldeep Kaur Taura (member of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee), two sons – Harinderpal Singh Taura and Kanwarbir Singh Taura, and two daughters – Dr. Jaspreet Kaur Tivana and Gurmanpreet Kaur (USA) and other families.
The death of Sardar Harmel Singh Taura is a wave of mourning not only in the family but also in the politics of Punjab.
