Today is the last day of Ganesh festival across the country. The idol of Lord Ganesha will be immersed on Anant Chaturdashi. Special preparations have been made for Ganesh immersion in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
More than 1.80 lakh idols will be immersed in Mumbai. These include 6,500 Ganesh Pandal and 1.75 lakh domestic statues. These will be immersed in various banks, reservoirs and 205 artificial lakes of the city.
21,000 policemen will be deployed in Mumbai to maintain law and order. The police will use Artificial Intelligence (AI) for the first time for root management.
For this, an AI based control room will be built on Girgaon Chowpatty. QR codes have been issued to the Chief Ganpati Committee and stickers have also been installed for vehicles involved in the immersion procession.
This will help the police to detect vehicles, monitor the crowd and control them so that they can be managed in real time for traffic diversion.

What arrangements in Mumbai
- 1,175 steel plates were placed on the beaches, so that the vehicles carrying the idols do not get stuck in the sand.
- Around 50 German rafts have been arranged to help in immersion of large idols.
- 245 control rooms have been set up at immersion sites. Also 42 cranes have also been deployed.
- 2,178 lifeguards have been deployed on reservoirs and artificial lakes.
- 56 motorboats have been arranged for rescue and relief work.
