The bridge in Mahisagar river in Vadodara, Gujarat was broken at 7:30 am on Wednesday.
The death toll has increased to 19 due to the collapse of the old bridge over the Mahisagar river in Vadodara district of Gujarat. On Friday, an injured man died in the hospital. Two people are still missing. Search operation of NDRF and SDRF continues.
Vadodara Collector Anil Dhelia said that a tanker fell into the river had sulfuric acid. In such a situation, it is being ascertained that there is no leakage from it. At the same time, the rescue team is burning and itching due to water soda ash (sodium carbonate).
Three people of the same family have died in the accident. Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has suspended four engineers of the state’s road and building departments in connection with the bridge collapse.
Initial investigation found that the foundation and joints of the bridge had weakened, causing the accident. The inquiry committee will submit a full report in 30 days.

The Gambhira bridge was built by Uttar Pradesh State Setu Nigam in 1981-82. According to the information, in 2015, the Gambhira bridge was found to be dilapidated. At that time it was inspected by the government and had to change the bearings. This situation was created because good material was not used in the construction of the bridge.
People said- even after the complaint, there was no repair After the accident, the locals reached the spot and rescued the people. A local youth said, ‘We have been conducting rescue operations since morning. So far 13 bodies have been recovered, one of which is a child and a child is missing. During this time we have not got any help from the administration and officials.
They say that the administration has been informed several times to repair this bridge 45 years old. This accident has happened today due to no action being taken by the administration. Local people allege that the administration is completely responsible for this incident.

- Me and my friend fell into the river with the bike: The injured Rajubhai Athiya, who was injured in the accident, said, “Me and my friend were going from Dwarka to Ankleshwar. We were suddenly collapsed and we fell into the river along with the bike. I came out of the water and climbed on top of a car. My friend is missing. After a while people came for help with a boat.”

- Bike puncture saved lives: Maheshbhai Parmar (age 23) passing through the bridge also narrowly escaped the incident. Mahesh told, ‘We two friends were going to work. The bike was punctured near the bridge. After fixing the puncture, as soon as we reached the bridge, the bridge suddenly broke. We were behind three-four trains. Seeing an eco car, a pickup and a truck fell down from the bridge. There was a shouts down.
- The brakes applied as soon as the vehicles fall: 25 -year -old Sanjaybhai Somabhai Chavda told Divya Bhaskar that three friends were going to work by bike. Then suddenly I had to brake, because the bridge was broken from the middle. If we did not apply brakes, we too had become a victim of the accident.

- A woman looked sinking, saved her: Local Atul Padhiyar said that on receiving the news of the accident, me and one of my companions immediately reached there with a rickshaw. We saw that people were screaming for help. Saw a woman drowning. We immediately reached the river and took them out, their lives have been saved. Atul said that two-three drivers suffered injuries in their hands and feet. He has been sent to the hospital. We and some nearby people pulled seven-eight people out of the river.
