The Enforcement Directorate (ED) of Gurugram has taken major action in the illegal mining case. 44 properties have been attached in Punjab, including more than 85 acres of agricultural land and their estimated price is around 30 crores.

These properties are in Ludhiana, Rupnagar, SAS Nagar, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Nagar and other districts of Punjab. Those whose names are these properties include Kuldeep Singh Makkar, Angad Singh Makkar, Puneet Singh Makkar and his companies.
The ED said that this action has been taken under the Money Laundering Prevention Act (PMLA), 2002. The Makkar family and their companies were investing in various assets by earning money from illegal mining. Now these properties have been confiscated so that they can be used in further investigation.
152 crore assets have been attached in the case so far The ED also informed that a total of Rs 152 crore properties have been attached in this case so far. The agency says that such network related to illegal mining not only harm the environment, but also causes heavy losses to the government.
This action of ED is being considered as major action against illegal mining mafia in Punjab. The investigating agency is currently investigating the financial transactions related to the case and the role of other persons.
