The cabinet also approved reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC) in the municipal elections. Till now there was no provision to give reservation to OBC in the civic elections. Harshvardhan Chauhan said, OBC has a population of about 25 percent in the state. In view of this, it was decided to give reservation to OBC in the civic elections. There are 73 Nagar Panchayat, Municipal Council and Municipal Corporation in the state. Elections are to be held this year.

After the approval of the cabinet, now OBC will get representation in the municipal elections. According to sources, almost all the municipal bodies of the state had fixed reservation rosters on the orders of the Election Commission. However, now after getting reservation for OBC, all DC will have to do this exercise and change the reservation roster.

Monsoon session from August 18

The date of the monsoon session of the assembly has been fixed in the cabinet meeting. The monsoon session of Himachal Assembly will be recommended to the Governor to call from August 18 to September 2. It will have 12 seating. Harshvardhan Chauhan said, for the first time such a long monsoon session has been called in the state.

Dehra status has released Rs 19 crore for water supply at Central University. For this, water will be picked up from Beas river.

Himachal government resumed lottery

The cabinet approved the launch of a lottery to increase the government’s income. With this, the state government is expected to have additional income of Rs 50 to 100 crore annually. Industry Minister Harsh Vardhan Chauhan said, Punjab has earned Rs 235 crore from lottery in the last financial year, while Kerala has made an income of 13 thousand 582 crore with a lottery.

290 posts of Asha workers approved

The cabinet has approved 290 posts of Asha workers in the Health Department. These posts will be filled under the National Rural Health Mission.

TGT-JBT relaxation in age limit

The cabinet decided to give 2 years exemption in the maximum age limit appearing in the competitive examination for TGT and JBT posts taken by the State Selection Commission.

One seat reserved for orphaned children in every course

The cabinet decided to reserve a seat per government and government aided and private technical institutes including ITI, Polytechnic, Engineering and Pharmacy colleges for orphans.

7 posts of law officer approved

The cabinet also decided to fill 5 posts of Law Officer (English) and 2 posts of Law Officer (Hindi) in the State Secretariat. In addition, approved the creation and filling of 3 posts of Research Officer in the offices of the Integrated Tribal Development Project at Bharmour, Pangi and Spiti.

Approves the recommendations of Sub Committee constituted to use empty buildings

In the meeting, the recommendations of the Cabinet Sub Committee constituted under the chairmanship of Technical Education Minister Rajesh Dharmani were approved, whose objective is to ensure proper use of vacant government buildings. The committee has recommended that all empty government buildings of various departments be used in a phased manner. Along with this, it has also been recommended to nominate a nodal agency, which will provide space to such departments, boards and corporations to establish workplace.
