Mother Sati’s eyes fell in Nayana Devi
According to the legend, when Sati sacrificed her life after Daksha was insulted in the yajna, Lord Vishnu made 51 pieces of Sati’s body with his Sudarshan Chakra and wherever his limbs fell, they were called Shaktipeeth. Goddess Sati’s eyes fell in the Naina Devi temple located in Bilaspur, Himachal, hence it is known as Naina Devi Shaktipeeth.

Mata Saatti’s feet fall in Chintpurni
The temple of Maa Chintpurni in Una district is known as Chinnamastika. It is said that Sati’s feet fell in Chintpurni. A large number of devotees from the neighboring state of Punjab arrive here to visit the mother. It is believed that Maa Chintpurni fulfills all the concerns of the devotees and fulfills the wishes.

Maa Jwala Ji Temple in Kangra district is also one of the major Shaktipeeths of the country. It is believed that the tongue of mother Sati here fell from the Sudarshan Chakra of Lord Vishnu. There is another famous Shaktipeeth of Maa Chamunda Devi in Palampur in Kangra district of Himachal. It is believed that in Chamunda, Goddess Durga killed demons named Chand and Mund, due to which she got the name ‘Chamunda’.
Apart from this, it is also said that some part of Sati’s stages also fell here. This temple is greatly developed as a religious tourist destination. Special worship is done here on Navratri. Saptchandi is recited here in the morning.

There is a mother Brijeshwari Devi temple in Kangra district itself. Here too, there is an influx of devotees throughout the year. Maa Durga is specially worshiped here on Navratri festival. It is believed that the left chest of Maa Sati had fallen here, so this place became famous as Maa Brijeshwari.

Strong security arrangements in temples
Strong security arrangements have been made in the Shaktipeeths of the state and other temples of the mother. Along with police personnel, anti-social elements are also being monitored with CCTV and drone cameras. More than 450 police and home guard personnel have been deployed in Maa Naina Dev Temple. The same number of soldiers have been deployed in the Chintpurni temple. In 5 Shaktipeeths, more than 1200 soldiers will take care of security during Navratri.
