India’s unemployment rate has come down to 5.1% in August 2025. It was 5.2 in July and 5.6% in June. In such a situation, this is the second consecutive month when it has declined. The Ministry of Statistics and Program Implementation of the Central Government has released unemployment rate data on Monday (15 September).
The unemployment rate (UR) in men has come down to 5.0% in August, the lowest level since April 2025. This happened because the unemployment rate of men in urban areas declined from 6.6% of July to 5.9% in August.
At the same time, the unemployment rate of men in rural areas also decreased to 4.5% in August, which is the lowest in the last four months. The rural men are lower than the UR level.
