LCA Mark-1 A is an advanced version of Tejas aircraft. It has upgraded avionics and radar systems.
Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) will hand over two Tejas Mark-1 A fighter jet to the Indian Air Force in November. Officials said it had found a jet engine from the US defense company GE Aerospace. By the end of this month (about 15 days later) another engine will be found.
In February 2021, the government signed an agreement of 48,000 crore with HAL to buy 83 Tejas Mark-1A, but HAL has not yet been able to submit a single aircraft due to a delay in delivery of American engine. It is expected that by 2028 HAL will hand over all the aircraft to the Air Force.
LCA Mark 1A is an advanced version of Tejas aircraft. It has upgraded avionics and radar systems. More than 65% of LCA Mark-1A equipment are made in India. Tejas has also been developed by HAL. It is a light fighter aircraft with single engine.
On August 19, the central government also approved a ₹ 62 thousand crore project to buy 97 LCA Mark 1A fighter jet.

HAL has time up to 2028 for the first order HAL has a time till 2028 to deliver 83 aircrafts. HAL chairman and managing director DK Sunil said that the industry was being held responsible for the delay in delivery, but the delay was due to technical flaws. Now it has been removed.
Mig series aircraft will replace LCA Mark-1 A Defense sources said that the new project of 97 aircraft will help the Indian Air Force to replace its Mig-21 aircraft fleet. The MiG-21 fighter aircraft will retire on 19 September after serving the Indian Air Force for 62 years.
LCA Mark-1 will replace the MiG-21 fleet of the Airforce. LCA Mark-1 A is considered to be a major step towards India’s self-reliance and make-in-India in aerospace. It is planned to deploy it at Nal Airbase in Bikaner, Rajasthan near Pakistan border.

This was the first flight in the fighter plane of an Indian Prime Minister. Before flying in Tejas, Modi also arrived in Bangalore -based Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
