After this, the robbers filled the cash and gold bag and escaped by locking the bank from outside. Bullets were also fired during the incident. During this time the bank was closed for customers and the guard was on leave.

Earlier on May 25, gold worth Rs 53 crore and Rs 5.20 lakh in cash was looted in Canara Bank branch of Mangaguli village in Vijaypura district. 15 accused were caught in that case. This is the second major bank robbery in the district in four months.
