2 terrorists, including Bagu Khan, were killed during infiltration near LoC in Gurez sector on August 28.
Security forces have killed a terrorist Bagu Khan known as Human GPS near the Line of Control (LOC) in Gurez sector of Bandipora district of Jammu and Kashmir. Bagu Khan was also known as Samandar Chacha. He was the most wanted terrorist of Hizbul Mujahideen on the list of security agencies.
According to sources, Bagu Khan had been living in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (POK) since 1995. He was active in cross -border terrorism for 25 years and was one of the oldest helpers of infiltration. He was involved in more than 100 infiltration incidents.
The Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police had an encounter with Bagu Khan on August 28 while an attempt to infiltrate Naushera Nar area of Gurez sector. In this, he was killed with one of his companions. Another terrorist has not been identified. However, the bodies of both have been recovered.
The Indian Army had said on X that they had received intelligence about the infiltration of the terrorists. Based on this, the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police started a joint operation. During this, the terrorists started firing indiscriminately. Two terrorists were killed in retaliation.
Earlier on August 2, three Lashkar-e-Taiba (LET) militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Akhhal Devsar area of Kulgam district in Jammu and Kashmir. The army started Operation Akhhal on 1 August against the terrorists, which lasted for 12 days. Two soldiers were also martyred in it.
After the Pahalgam terror attack on 22 April, 23 terrorists have been killed so far in 7 different encounters in Jammu and Kashmir. The identity of two terrorists killed today has not been revealed. Twelve out of 21 other terrorists were Pakistani citizens, while nine were local.

6 encounters in Jammu and Kashmir from 22 April to 1 August
Encounter 1: Place- Kulgam, Date- 1 to 12 August An operation called Operation Akhhal was carried out in Kulgam, about 70 km from Srinagar. Three terrorists of Lashkar-e-Taiba were killed in it. They were identified as Zakir Ahmed Gani of Kulgam, Adil Rahman Dentu, resident of Sopore and Harish Dar, resident of Pulwama.
Encounter 2: Place- Poonch, Date- 30 July Under Operation Shiv Shakti, two Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in Poonch sector. Both were Pakistani. His names were not made public. However, officials said they were intruders who had recently crossed the border with Pakistan -occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Encounter 3: Place- Harwan, Date- 28 July Under Operation Mahadev, three Pakistani Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists were killed in Mulanar village in Harwan, Srinagar. He was identified as Suleman, Afghan and Jibran. Home Minister Amit Shah had told during a discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha on 29 July that the three terrorists had carried out the Pahalgam attack.
Encounter 4: Place- Pulwama, Date- 15 May Three Jaish-e-Mohammed militants were killed in the Tral forest, about 26 km from Pulwama city. They were all residents of Tral. He was identified as Asif Ahmed Sheikh, Aamir Nazir Wani and Yawar Ahmed Bhatt.
Encounter 5: Place- Shopian, Date- 13 May The army killed three Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in the Keller forests of Shopian district. They were identified as Shahid Kutte, Adnan Shafi Dar and Aamir Bashir. The three terrorists were residents of Shopian.
Encounter 6: Place- Samba Sector, Date- 8 and 9 May Seven terrorists of Jaish-e-Mohammed (JEM) were killed by BSF personnel in Samba district. All were Pakistani citizens. The encounter was one of the most deadly encounters against JEM in recent months. The authorities did not disclose the identity of the terrorists.
More than 100 terrorists killed in Operation Sindoor After the Pahalgam attack, the Indian Army had air strikes at 9 places of terrorists occupied by Pakistan on May 7 at half past one in the night. It also included the headquarters of terrorist organization Lashkar-e-Taiba and Masood Azhar, the head of Jaish-e-Mohammed. More than 100 terrorists were killed in it.
