There is a smell of conspiracy in the ongoing protests in Leh. Some people are deliberately provoking people and it is being compared to protests in Bangladesh and Nepal. Whether or not people outside Ladakh are involved in protest will be investigated.

Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, National Conference Leader

This is very unfortunate. We believe that the decision of 5 August 2019 was not accepted by the people of Leh or Jammu and Kashmir. Sadly, people are not only protesting now, but have been demanding since their area was union territory.

MA Baby, CPI (M) General Secretary

The BJP has once again betrayed the people of Leh and Tripura. Public anger is visible on the streets, although the attack on party offices is not a solution. 4 people died due to the ruthless oppressive action of the administration.

In the last two years, people have been protesting several times and have been demanding full state status and constitutional security, which led to their land, jobs and separate identity, which they got under Article 370.
