Anurag Anil Borkar, a 19 -year -old student from Chandrapur district of Maharashtra, committed suicide on Monday. The shocking thing is that the day he had to go to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, he had to take this step in the MBBS course at the Medical College, the same day he took this step.
Anurag was a resident of Navgaon (Sindwahi Tehsil) in Chandrapur. He recently got 99.99 percentile in the NEET UG 2025 exam. Anurag achieved All India Rank 1475 in the OBC category.
Police said that Anurag was at his house on Monday morning and was preparing to go to Gorakhpur. Meanwhile, he hanged the house. By the time the family and neighbors came to know, it was too late. The police have also received a suicide note from the spot.
According to sources, it is written in the note-

I do not want to do MBBS as much as a doctor earns. A businessman can also earn that much. Five years of study, then MD… I don’t have to do all this.
Anurag wanted to study abroad
Sources say that Anurag wanted to study abroad. However, his family pressured him to take admission in India as he got a seat in a government medical college. It is believed that due to this controversy, he took this sad step.
According to the information, Anurag had taken the NEET exam twice in a row. In the first year also, he got admission in MBBS, but after not liking the college, he worked hard and took the exam again. The Navgaon police is interrogating the family and the reality of the suicide note is also being investigated.
SC gave directions in the student suicide case

On July 25, the Supreme Court expressed concern over the increasing incidents of student suicide and described it as a failure of the system. The court said that these incidents cannot be ignored.
A bench of Justice Vikram Nath and Justice Sandeep Mehta said that the rising figures in the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report are disturbing.
According to the report, in the year 2022, a total of 1 lakh 70 thousand 924 people committed suicide across the country, of which 13,044 were students. In 2001, students’ death figures were 5,425.
According to NCRB report, about 8 students were involved in 100 suicides. Of these, 2,248 students died just because they failed the examination.
