West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said on Wednesday that Union Home Minister Amit Shah is behaving like a “acting Prime Minister” and warned Prime Minister Narendra Modi not to trust him much.
Mamta made this statement when he returned to Kolkata after a visit to flood affected areas in Bagdogra and Mirik of Darjeeling. He compared Shah to Mir Jaffer. Mamta said,

Shah will one day become Modi’s Mir Jafar. Whatever the Election Commission is doing, it is doing at the behest of Amit Shah. Sadly, the Prime Minister knows all this.
Mamta accused the Center of not giving funds for flood relief and said that the BJP raises money for the elections, but not for disaster relief. In North Bengal, 32 people have died and many are missing due to continuous rains and landslides for the last one week.

Who was Mir Jafar
Mir Jafar was the Mughal General, who is considered a symbol of betrayal in Indian history. In the Battle of Plassey of 1757, he met the British and betrayed the Nawab Siraj -ud -daulah of Bengal. Mir Jafar signed a secret agreement with the British East India Company, which led to the defeat of Siraj -ud -daulah and the British laid the foundation of power in India. Later, the British made Mir Jafar the Nawab of Bengal.
3 big things of Mamta-
- PM Modi retaliated on the statements of Mirik bridge accident, saying, “Bengal is not Gujarat. In 2022, more than 130 people died after a bridge collapsed in Morbi, Gujarat.”
- The state government has intensified relief work. So far 500 relief kits have been distributed, including blankets, rice, pulses, dry ration and milk. About 1,000 stranded tourists have been evacuated from 45 buses.
- The temporary bridge in Mirik will be built in 15 days and the new bridge will be ready before the next monsoon. She will visit the flood affected areas again next week to monitor the relief operations themselves.
