The greatest honor of Indian cinema has been announced by the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. This year, this prestigious award will be given to Mohanlal, who is called Malayalam Cinema superstar and Complete Actor.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India made this announcement on Saturday. Mohanlal has been active in films for the last four decades. He has also changed the definition of acting.
Mohanlal has worked not only in Malayalam, but also in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi and Kannada films. Mohanlal, who started his career with ‘Manzil Virinja Pukkal’ in the 1980s, has acted in more than 350 films.
Mohanlal’s close ones say that he became extremely emotional with the announcement of this award. Fans are constantly appreciating him on social media. Mohanlal said- This is a proud moment for me. I am grateful to my audience and all the directors and writers who trusted me. This honor is not just mine, but the entire Malayalam film industry.
His filmography includes many popular films like ‘Kalapani’, ‘Bharam’, ‘Vanaprastham’, ‘Irupapatham Nuttandi’, ‘Lucifer’. Due to the depth and ease in acting, both the audience and the critic consider him very dear.
Earlier, Mohanlal has received the National Film Award 5 times. He has also been honored with Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. Due to his contribution in the field of cinema, he has been given the title of ‘The Complete Actor’.
National Award started in 1954 In the year 1954, the Government of India did it to give respect related to the film at the national level. Its foundation was laid to promote Indian culture and art. The first ceremony of the National Award was laid on 10 October 1954, in which Marathi film Shyamchi I was awarded the award in the Best Feature Film category.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award started in 1969
In 1969, the new category Dadasaheb Phalke Award was included in honor of Dadasaheb Phalke, the father of Hindi cinema at the National Award. Devika Rani was the first film figure to win the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1969. Since then, about 54 people have won the Dadasaheb Phalke Award. This is called the most proud honor of the film world. In 2024, this award was received by Mithun Chakraborty.
Dadasaheb Phalke Award- Golden Kamal, 10 Lakh, Citation and Shawl are given
Best Feature Film- Swarna Kamal and 2.5 lakh rupees.
Indira Gandhi Award- Gold Kamal and Rs 1.25 lakh.
Nargis Dutt Award- Silver Lotus and Rs 1.5 lakh.
Best film on social issues- Rajat Kamal and 1.5 lakh rupees.
Best Children’s Film- Swarna Kamal and 1.5 lakh rupees.
Best Film- Silver Kamal and 1 lakh rupees.
Best actor- silver lotus and 50 thousand rupees.
