The NCRB report has been released by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) on Tuesday made public reports of crimes committed in the country during 2023. According to the report, in 2023, a total of 62 lakh 41 thousand 569 crimes were registered in the country. These are 7.2% more than 2022.
4.48 lakh offenses were registered against women across the country, which is the highest in 10 years. Rajasthan (5,078 cases) ranks first in cases of rape. UP (3,206 cases) leads in the murder case.
At the same time, there has been a decrease in cases of large crime like murder, rape and robbery across the country. However, most of the cases of rape were registered. Cases of murder at number two and robbery on third were registered.

UP-Bihar top in murder and kidnapping cases
According to this report, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar are at the top of murder and kidnapping cases among the states. That is, the number of serious crimes is the highest among these two states as compared to other states. Apart from this, UP is also at the top in cases of road accidents, which reflects the concerns of increasing traffic and security in the state.
86,420 cases of cybercrime registered in the country
Cybercrime cases across the country have increased by 31 percent. A total of 86,420 cases were painted in 2023. UP in the murder case through cyber, Rajasthan in rape and Maharashtra in robbery were at the forefront. The lowest cybercrime in the country was recorded in Sikkim.
Children; Sexual offenses are growing rapidly
In 2023, the rate of crimes against children was 39.9 per lakh child population, which was 36.6 in 2022. In these cases, the kidnapping (79,884, 45%) and crime under the Poxo Act (67,694, 38.2%) were the most prominent.

Madhya Pradesh at number one in crime on children
According to the report, in 2023, 1.77 lakh cases of crime were registered against children, which was 1.62 lakh in 2022. That is, an increase of 9.2% in a year, which is the highest compared to women and the elderly.
At the same time, 22,393 cases have been reported in Madhya Pradesh alone in the states. A crime was registered against the children every day on an average of 486 and every three minutes.

UP- Maharashtra ahead in crimes against women
In 2023, crime against women increased by 0.7% and 2.7% on the elderly. 4 lakh 48 thousand 211 cases were registered against women in crime, the highest number of ‘cruelty’ by husband or relative, ‘kidnapping’, ‘rape’ and ‘tampering’.
UP, Maharashtra, Pt. Bengal, Rajasthan are at the forefront. At the same time, the tendency of ‘forcible marriage’ in the kidnapping of women emerged in large numbers, especially in North and Central India.

Mumbai at number one in cases of online fraud
Mumbai finished first in online cheating in 19 metro cities. 2,396 cases were registered and 45 cases of online documents were found. Mumbai stood second (119 cases) in cyber stocking/bulling with women and children, while Hyderabad was first (163 cases) in the case. Mumbai also ranked second (179 cases) in sexual abuse through internet. Bengaluru first (374 cases). Mumbai was at the forefront of pending cases of cyber crimes.
Farmers suicides; Maharashtra has the highest 38.5% stake
- In 2023, more than 10,700 people associated with farming committed suicide, out of which 38.5% were from Maharashtra and 22.5% from Karnataka. The annual income of 66.2% of the victims in total suicides (1 lakh 71 thousand 418) was less than one lakh.
- 4,690 farmers/cultivators and 6,096 agricultural laborers committed suicide in the farming sector, it is 6.3% of the total suicides in the country. Most of the suicides in farming were recorded in Maharashtra (38.5%), Karnataka (22.5%), Andhra Pradesh (8.6%), Madhya Pradesh (7.2%).
Maharashtra ahead in theft with passengers in railway
Most fake notes have been registered in Delhi According to the NCRB report, a total of 3 lakh 51 thousand 656 fake notes were seized in the country in 2023. Their total price was Rs 16.86 crore. Delhi has also recorded the highest number of fake currency cases, especially of 2000 rupee notes.
Rajasthan and Assam have been ahead in the seizure of fake notes of 500 rupees. Rajasthan seized 38,087 fake notes worth Rs 500, priced at Rs 1.9 crore. Assam seized 37,240 notes, priced at Rs 1.86 crore.
At the same time, Uttar Pradesh has emerged as the top state in the seizure of fake notes of low price including notes of 200, 100, 50 and 20 rupee notes. The state seized 6,558 fake notes worth 200 rupees worth Rs 13.11 lakh. After this, 4,903 notes were seized in Karnataka and 3,593 notes in Rajasthan.
In Uttar Pradesh, 12,068 fake notes worth Rs 6.03 lakh were seized, which is more than four times the number of notes seized in Delhi (3,027 notes) and Maharashtra (1,457 notes).
