Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be on a tour of Mizoram today. They will lay the foundation stone and inauguration of several development projects costing more than Rs 9000 crore at 10 am in Aizawl.
These projects will benefit in many areas including railways, roads, energy, sports. Here he will also address a public meeting. Modi will inaugurate the state’s most special project, Bairabi-Garrang railway line, which will first connect Aizawl to other parts of the country to the rail network.
The direct rail connectivity between Mizoram and the rest of the country will give people in the area safe, skilled and affordable travel options. This will also ensure timely and reliable supply of grains, fertilizer and other essential things.
PM will visit Mizoram, Manipur, Assam, West Bengal and Bihar from 13 to 15 September. During this, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of projects worth about Rs 71,850 crore.

PM Modi’s other programs in Mizoram
- Modi will lay the foundation stone of 45 km long Aizawl bypass, Theinjol-Siyalasuk Road and Khancoun-Hergura Road costing more than Rs 500 crore.
- The PM will lay the foundation stone of the Chhimatuipui river bridge on Longtalai-Siyaha Road. This will reduce the time of travel by two hours. This bridge will also promote cross -border trade under Kaladan Multimodal Transit structure.
- Modi will lay the foundation stone for sports development in Tuikual for sports development. This hall will provide modern sports facilities, which will benefit the youth of Mizoram in National and International Competition.
- PM will lay the foundation of LPG bottling plant with a capacity of 30 thousand metric tonnes per year in Aijol’s Mulakhang. This will continuously supply LPG in Mizoram and neighboring states. It will also provide employment.
- Under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Program (PMJVK) scheme, Modi will inaugurate Eklavya model in Talanganuam and residential school in cover.
- This will improve school enrollment, reduce school leaving and will provide overall education opportunities for tribal youth.
- Sports facilities including modern classes, hostels and football grounds will be available in the school. More than 10 thousand children and youth will benefit from this.
Governor and political parties expressed happiness
Mizoram Governor General V.K. Singh (retired) said that Prime Minister Modi had given a vision only 11 years ago that development will take place only when there would be a infrastructure to far-flung and border areas of the country. He said that this railway line will connect Mizoram to the rest of the country and it can also be extended to the Myanmar border in future.
Mizoram parties Zorm People’s Movement (ZPM), Mizo National Front (MNF) have also welcomed the project. He says that this will create new opportunities for economic development, trade, tourism and employment in the state.
