Under the prescribed procedure, postal ballots are made available only to the detained voters on the day of polling. It is mandatory to reach the Election Officer before the commencement of sealed envelope counting marked on it.
According to this, the Commission has directed that sealed envelope with the postal ballot marked by Amritpal Singh should be sent by air through a special messenger, so that it reaches the Election Officer before 6 pm on 9 September 2025. The concerned officials have been instructed to make immediate arrangements for this work and to provide complete information to the Commission.
All companions shifted to Punjab jail
Amritpal Singh is currently in preventive custody in the Central Jail Dibrugarh (Assam) under the National Security Act, 1980. However, his family will soon challenge the NSA imposed on him in the court. Amritpal Singh has also reached the jail of Punjab as well as at this time. The NSA was removed from them. Also, trial has been started in other cases registered on them.
