On these strong questions of the Supreme Court, KM Natraj said that he will answer this as soon as possible. After this, the hearing of the case was postponed till 15 October. The court also said that the matter will not be postponed again at the behest of the Center.

  • 1. In jail for 29 years, serving 15 years sentence: Senior Advocate Mukul Rohatgi appeared on behalf of Balwant Singh Rajoana. He argued that Rajoana has been jailed for more than 29 years. This person has been cutting the death sentence for 15 years. So when the petition was filed last time, the court said that it has not been filed by the Gurdwara Committee, not this mercy petition. However, according to the provisions, who files the petition, it does not matter. This should be considered. The court had said that so much time has passed, it will have to be decided at some time, two and a half years have passed.
  • Nothing happened since last time: Mukul Rohatgi further said that nothing happened on this. Because of this, he filed another petition in 2024. In the final order passed in January on this petition, Chief Justice BR Gawai, Justice Prashant Kumar Mishra and Justice KV Vishwanathan’s special bench gave the Center the last chance to decide on his mercy petition. The court had said that if the Center fails to do so, the final decision on the petition will be taken by the court.
