Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann will meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi today (30 September). Where he will tell Shah about the damage caused by floods in Punjab. Apart from this, State Disaster Relief Fund (SDRF) rules will also demand relaxation.

However, earlier CM Mann was constantly asking for time to meet PM Narendra Modi. However, there was no time from the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO). For which the condemnation of PMO in the special session called for flood was passed.
When Modi came to Punjab, CM was in hospital Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the flood -affected areas of Punjab on 9 September. However, CM Bhagwant Mann was ill at that time. So he could not meet the PM. Opposition parties also made an issue. However, BJP leaders are also raising questions that if the CM was ill, then the number two minister i.e. Finance Minister Harpal Cheema should have gone to meet the PM. However, the Punjab government sent Minister Hardeep Mundian.

2 important demands of Punjab CM from Center
- 20 thousand crore package should be given: CM Bhagwant Mann says that Punjab has lost 20 thousand crores in floods. Therefore, this package should be given to the state. However, PM Modi declared a compensation of Rs 1600 crore after the tour of Punjab. The PM said that 12 thousand crores is already lying in SDRF near the state.
- SDRF rules relaxed: CM Bhagwant Mann says that the compensation prescribed under the SDRF rules is very low. The Punjab government wants to give compensation up to 50 thousand per acre to the farmers. CM also said in the session on Monday that the compensation of 26% to 33% loss of crops is increased from 2 thousand to 10 thousand, 33% to 75% from 6800 to 10 thousand. In the loss of 75% to 100% crops, 6800 rupees can be helped from SDRF fund, which is being increased to 20 thousand. This is possible only when the SDRF rules will be exempted, otherwise the government will add increased amount on its behalf.
Large floods since 1988, what the center has done so far The Punjab government says that there has been a big flood in the state since 1988. Due to which all 23 districts were hit. About 3.89 lakh people have been affected by the floods. 59 people have died. Apart from this, 2 lakh acres of crop has been damaged.
Home Minister had taken information about the situation on phone NDRF and Army teams were sent for rescue as soon as the flood was detected. Around 25 helicopters were engaged in rescue. On September 1, during the flood, Home Minister Shah called CM Mann and got the flood situation. The PM returned from the foreign tour on 2 September and the situation was known to the CM.
3 teams also reached Punjab to take stock of the loss On 5 September, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Chauhan visited Punjab. Meanwhile, 3 teams from the center also reached Punjab to take stock of the loss. On 9 September, Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Punjab. In Gurdaspur, he met farmers and ministers of Punjab. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister announced a relief package of Rs 1,600 crore for Punjab.
