On 28 May 2022, singer Sidhu Mosewala was killed. Lawrence gang is accused of murder. So far, more than 10 such cases have been reported, in which people associated with Punjabi music and film industry have received ransom threats on social media and phone or have been attacked. Because of this, there is an atmosphere of fear among singers and actors.
DGP Gaurav Yadav of Punjab says-
The case of firing on Tania’s father has been solved. Strict action is being taken against the gangsters. Efforts are being made to ensure the safety of the people.
On July 2 this month, the father of Punjabi actress Tania Kamboj was shot at the clinic in Moga.
Let’s know which Punjab singers-actors have been attacked or threatened ….
1. Parmish saved his life after being shot On 13 April 2018, actor-singer Parmish Verma was attacked in Mohali. His car was fired. A bullet hit his leg and was admitted to the hospital. Gangster Dilpreet Baba took responsibility for this incident. This was the first case in the last 7 years, when gangsters first looked at the music and film industry of Punjab.
Parmish was coming to his flat at Sector-91 Mohali by program from Chandigarh at night. During this, suddenly gangster Dilpreet and her associates started chasing Parmish. The first singer did not pay attention, but when he reached Sector-91, the gangsters put the car in front of Parmish. He started firing. A bullet hit Parmish’s leg.
After the injuries, Parmish Verma drove his car 6 km. Also called the then SSP Kuldeep Singh Chahal of Mohali. After this he was admitted to Fortis Hospital. Gangster Dilpreet was caught after an encounter in July 2018. During interrogation, it was found that Dilpreet had sought extortion of Rs 20 lakh from Parmish. So far this case is going on in Mohali court.
2. Gippy Grewal threatened to be bright Punjabi singer and actor Gippy Grewal lodged a complaint with the Mohali police against gangster Dilpreet Baba on 1 June 2018. Gippy said that on 31 May 2018, he received a WhatsApp message from Dilpreet Baba, which said that if the matter did not listen, there would be situations like Chamkila and Parmish Verma. The message demanded ransom. However, the matter went to court for about six years, but the police could not prove that Dilpreet Baba and Sukhpreet Buddha had demanded a ransom, due to which they were acquitted.
3. Bambiha gang wrote on Mankirat Aulakh- relation with his Lawrence In March 2022, Punjabi singer Mankirat Aulakh was threatened by Davinder Bambiha gang to kill her on Facebook. The threat was posted from a social media account, in which it was written “There was a difference of ten minutes, otherwise heaven would go to heaven.” However, this post was later deleted. Mankirat immediately informed the police, after which he was given security. The threatening post was written in Punjabi and there were 4 pictures of Mankirat Aulakh.
In the post, it was alleged that Mankirat Aulakh was “Fukra” that he had close ties with the Lawrence Group and he gives news to the rich singers of the industry to the gangsters, due to which gangster harasses singers. It was also said in the post that now Mankirat’s brought up is from gangsters and he should get the jails.
4. Sidhu Mosewala murdered On 29 May 2022, Singer Sidhu Mosewala was killed in broad daylight in Mansa. A dozen attackers armed with expensive and imported weapons fired more than 30 bullets on Sidhu Mosewala and died on the spot. The responsibility of the murder was taken by Goldie Brar, Lawrence Gang and Jaggu Bhagwanpuria. So far this case is going on in Mansa court.
5. Bablu Mann received threat from Goldie Brar On 17 November 2022, a case of threatening threats to Punjabi singer Babbu Mann in the name of gangster Goldie Brar was reported. He then complained to DGP of Punjab. In view of the seriousness of the case, the Mohali police had increased the security of his house.
6. Wrote to Karan Aujla- will definitely be calculated About 2 years ago, Punjabi singer Karan Aujla was threatened by Jassa Group associated with the Bambiha gang on social media. Jassa Group wrote in the Facebook post that no matter how clean the artists or shared the stage with the Lawrence Gang, they will definitely be calculated.
In fact, a video of a program at Bakersfield, California appeared on stage with Anmol, brother of Karan Auzla gangster Lawrence. Both were also seen taking selfies in the video. Subsequently, members associated with Bambiha Group became active on social media and posted threatened messages.
7. Lucky Patial asked 1 crore from Bunty Bains In February 2024, Sidhu Mosewala’s close and Punjabi composer Bunty Bains was attacked in Mohali. He came to eat food at a restaurant in Sector-70 in Mohali, when the attack took place. After the attack, a threatening call was received to Bunty Bains, in which a ransom of one crore rupees was sought from him. He received this threat in the name of gangster Lucky Patial, and he narrowly survived in the incident.
8. Firing took place at AP Dhillon’s home in Canada On the night of 1 September 2024, there was a firing outside the ‘Brown Munde’ and ‘Summer High’ fame AP Dhillon’s home in Canada. The attack took place at his house in Vancouver. Rohit Godara of Lawrence gang took responsibility for this firing. In a viral Facebook post, he wrote that Victoria Island house is from AP Dhillon and he is taking “big feeling”. The post also mentioned Salman Khan and underworld life.
9. Pinky Dhaliwal’s house firing On 14 May 2025, about 7 rounds of firing took place at the house of music producer Pinki Dhaliwal in Mohali. The police found a slip from outside the producer’s house, on which the name of Kala Rana was written. On 7 June, CIA Kharar arrested the shooter, who was associated with the Kala Rana gang. The money was not demanded from Dhaliwal, but according to police sources, these people first threaten and collect money later.
10. Lakhbir fired on Tania’s father On July 4, in Moga, actress Tania’s father Anil Jeet Singh was fired at her clinic. 2 attackers came as a patient and they shot bullets. In 2022, the family received threats, after which police protection was given, but was later withdrawn.
Punjab’s DGP Gaurav Yadav says that terrorist Lakhbir Singh was involved in this attack. Police arrested 3 operatives of Lakhbir during the encounter. Arms and a car have also been recovered from the accused. It was a large target killing conspiracy, which was failed in time.
