The Punjab government is going to launch the new Chief Minister’s Health Insurance Scheme in December. Earlier it was to be started from October 2, but it was delayed due to floods. Under this scheme, 65 lakh families of the state will get treatment facility.

The government will give free treatment up to 10 lakh rupees to every family. People will also get the benefit of this in the treatment of serious diseases like cancer and they will be able to take good medical facilities near their home. The scheme will also include more than 2000 private hospitals along with government hospitals.
The government has ordered tenders from insurance companies. It is being claimed that any one company will be finalized by the end of October. Health Minister Balbir Singh says that this scheme will be started in the month of December.
Registration started in two districts The government may have postponed the launch of the scheme, but has started the process of registration for the scheme in two districts. It has one Tarn Taran and the other is Barnala. The government is trying to cover the whole family in this scheme. Pilot projects are being run in these districts.
All serious diseases will be covered All the family members will be covered in the scheme. The government claims that the treatment of the entire family will be free on the basis of the card. There is an attempt to cover all serious diseases in the scheme so that people do not have to face problems.

Pensioners will also get facility Cards of all people of Punjab will be made in this scheme. In this, farmers, laborers, government employees, pensioners will all be able to take advantage of this. For this, registration camps will be organized in facility centers and hospitals. For this, only Aadhaar card and voter card will have to be shown. Its details have not been given by the government yet. However, the government says that all serious diseases will be covered in this scheme.
Punjab’s new health scheme, how different from Ayushman?
- Chief Minister Sarbat Health Insurance: Chief Minister Sarbat Health Bima Yojana is already underway in Punjab, under which up to 5 lakh treatment is available in government and panel hospitals. In this scheme, 80 percent of the people of the state are covered.
- Ayushman Bharat Scheme: The Ayushman Bharat Yojana in Punjab is being run by the Central Government, which allows people below the poverty line across India to treat up to 5 lakh in government and listed hospitals. This scheme is applicable in all states, but the participation of the state government in it is necessary.
Now Punjab is working on this scheme. People of all age groups will be able to take advantage of it. There is no such condition in this scheme that only so many percent of people will get the benefit, but for this it is necessary to be a resident of Punjab only. Second, the Punjab government meeting is also going on from the Center. In this, there are also preparations to provide treatment to those who are first covered in the schemes of the center.
