The by -election for the vacant seat of Rajya Sabha in Punjab will be held on 24 October. Notification in this regard has been issued by the Election Commission.

The seat was vacant after the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) former Rajya Sabha MP Sanjeev Arora was elected MLA from Ludhiana. He resigned from Rajya Sabha membership after being elected MLA. It is being speculated that AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal can now visit Rajya Sabha from this seat.
However, party spokesperson Neil Garg says that whoever goes to this seat will represent Punjab. He said that it can be anyone- women, farmers or businessmen. A decision in this regard will be taken by the party high command.
According to the Election Commission notification, AAP leader Sanjeev Arora resigned from a Rajya Sabha membership on 1 July 2025.
