This initiative has been started today by Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal. Earlier, he has met students. Soon he will address the conference. The government claims that Punjab has become the first state in the country to include drug addiction to the school curriculum.

3658 Government schools will study 8 lakh students
The syllabus has been prepared by the team of Nobel Prize winning Professor Abhijeet Banerjee, and it has been appreciated by scientists and education experts across the country. Under the program, a 35 -minute class will be held on every 15th day for 27 weeks.
About 8 lakh students from 3658 government schools will be included under this campaign. Special training has been given to more than 6 thousand 500 teachers to teach them. This is the first time a state government is taking such a solid and visionary steps against drug addiction.
In the course, children will be shown films, quizzes, their thinking will be strengthened through posters, worksheets and interactive activities.

23000 more drug smugglers controlled
More than 23 thousand drug traffickers have been sent to jail so far under the ‘War Drugs’ campaign started from March 2025, and during this period more than one thousand kg of heroin has been seized. Also, many crores of drug smugglers have been seized by the government. But the government believes that only punishment will not solve. The real change will come when every child says himself – “I will stay away from drugs.”
