The Punjab government has named it the Punjab Holy Granth Bill-2025. CM Bhagwant Mann introduced this bill. This bill will now be discussed in the fourth and last day session of the Punjab Assembly to be held tomorrow. Since the Aam Aadmi Party in Punjab has 93 out of 117 MLAs, the bill is set to pass. However, this bill will be legalized only when it can be approved at the President’s level after the Governor’s signature.

State government will give clarification in difficulty
- If there is any difficulty in implementing this bill or there is an ambiguity, the state government may issue clarification through an order.
- Any order can be given within two years from the date of implementation of the bill.
- If any other law is contradictory with this bill, the provisions of this bill will be considered effective.
Right now only 3 years imprisonment provision The IPC had the first 295 sections in the IPC regarding the disgrace of religious texts, in which 295A was amended in 2014. It is now placed under 295A in BNS. In the disgrace of religious texts, it is considered guilty of hurting religious sentiments. Under this, there is a provision of 3 years imprisonment and fine or both punishment.
