After the collective prayer on Friday, some people broke the inauguration plaque with stones and removed the national symbol.

Controversy has arisen over the newly constructed Shilapatt at the Hazratbal Dargah of Srinagar. Local people and leaders objected to it against religious sentiments. After the prayers of Friday (5 September), some people broke the shilapat and removed the national symbol.

The mosque was recently renovated and the reconstruction and redevelopment project was inaugurated by Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board Chairperson Darkshan Andrabi. Andrabi described the incident as an injury to the Constitution.

He termed the protesters as miscreants. Also demanded action under PSA. She even said that if FIR is not registered on such people, she will go on hunger strike.

There has been a sharp political debate in the valley over the sanctity of the Hazratbal Dargah and the attitude of the Waqf Board. The National Conference and other opposition parties have described it as playing with religious sentiments.

PDP leader Iltija Mufti alleged that the Muslim community is being deliberately provoked.

Waqf Board Chairman said- Do not even take notes in the pocket with the national symbol

Andrabi told the police and Waqf Board officials that whenever the MLA goes to the Dargah, they should be searched so that there is no note in their pockets. Even if it is, it will be Makrooh (disgusting) to take it in. People who have problems with the use of national symbol should not take notes with national symbol while going to the dargah.

Andrabi alleges that an FIR is necessary against the assembly member who posted on social media, because it seems that these plaque breaking people were their own goons.
