Before Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, the Crime Branch on Saturday arrested a Syrian citizen from Elisbridge Regal Hotel. He has been identified as 23-year-old Ali Meti Al-Azhar.
Giant Police Commissioner Sharad Singhal of Crime Branch said that 3600 US dollars and 25 thousand Indian cash have been seized from Ali. Many marks of injury including bullets have also been found on his body. Videos of hunger in Gaza and atrocities on the people there have also been found in his mobile.
According to the police, Ali along with 5 of his associates used to collect funds from mosques and other places in the name of Gaza victims. Then used those money on its luxury lifestyle. The police suspect that they came to Reiki to the city for some special purpose.

According to sources, a total of 6 Syrian youths, including Ali, came to Abu Dhabi from Syrian capital Damascus on 22 July. From there, the tourist first reached Kolkata on a visa and came to Ahmedabad on 1 August. All these people used to talk only in Arabic language.
This group of Syrian youth was collecting money from mosques in Ahmedabad by showing videos of starvation and tragedy due to the war in Gaza. The Crime Branch investigated all the mosques in the city. During this time it was found that the accused were collecting funds through both online and cash mediums.
Apart from Ali, 3 accused have been identified as Ahmed Alhabash, Zakaria Aljhar and Yusuf Aljhar. However, the identity of two accused has not been revealed yet. Search operation is going on for his arrest.
