During the election campaign in 2024, A Revastha Reddy gave a statement against BJP

The Supreme Court said on Monday- leaders should be of thick skin. The Supreme Court should not be used for political battles.

The court made this comment during the hearing of the petition filed by the BJP leader against Telangana CM Revanth Reddy.

During the campaign for 2024 Lok Sabha elections, CM Reddy had said- if the BJP wins 400 seats, it will end reservation.

The BJP leader had claimed that this caused a loss to the party and had filed a defamation petition against Reddy. The petition was rejected by the Telangana High Court, which was challenged in the Supreme Court.

A bench of CJI BR Gavai and Justice of Justice, Atul S Chandurkar also dismissed the petition in the Supreme Court.

Reddy challenged the trial court order in the High Court

Section 125 of the Act was related to promoting enmity between the sections associated with the election.

Reddy challenged the trial court order in the High Court, claiming that the allegations made in the complaint do not make a case against him. He had argued that political speeches cannot be made a subject of defamation.
